Kansas Foster & Adoptive Parent Association

"What you choose to do today will make a
lasting difference in the life of a child."

Thank you for visiting today!

Our Mission

To empower, support and advocate for Kansas families by promoting safety, permanency, and well-being of our children.

 Our Purpose

To support foster and adoptive families, relatives or caregivers who share parenting with the birth family while seeking to find permanence, safety, and stability for the child. These individuals are willing to   provide a permanent connection for the child as the child reunifies with the birth family. They play an active role in linking the child to their past as well as guiding their future.

Annual Conference A Success

The Kansas Foster & Adoptive Parent Association, in collaboration with the Kansas Family Advisory Network (KFAN), SRS, the Office of Judicial Administration and Children's Alliance, hosted its first annual conference on July 10 & 11, 2009 in Topeka, Kansas.  The conference was titled Connecting the Dots:  Kansas Families and Children.

This conference brought together birth families, foster, adoptive, and kinship families, families new to the child welfare system, and workers new to the system to share information and exchange ideas.

33rd Annual Governor’s Conference for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect Award Nomination Criteria

The Governor’s Conference Award will once again be bestowed to an individual and organization who has done exemplary work for the benefit of Kansas children.  This is a high honor and should go to outstanding crusaders for children and families.

The conference planning committee has flexibility in making their choice and may consider such things in evaluating service as impact, length, innovation, and direct child care; also the recipient(s) can work either as volunteers or paid staff members of an organization.

This is a call to organizations and individuals to make a nomination for this award.  The organization/individual should prepare some brief information stating their reasons for nominating an individual or organization.  Nominations will be accepted until August 14, 2009 and voted on at the next committee meeting.  Send nominations to Pamela Noble, Kansas Children’s Service League, PO Box 517, Wichita, KS  67201 or pnoble@kcsl.org.
