The

meetings are open to the public. Anyone interested in the child
welfare system of the state of Kansas is invited to attend. Copies of
the bylaws and meeting minutes are available on our website. They may
also be obtained by contacting KFAPA at PO Box, 273, Canton, KS 67428.
Connecting the Dots A Huge Success I was trying to decide what my favorite part of the conference was
and all I could come up with was the part between Friday night and when it
ended on Saturday afternoon. So basically all of it. The goal of the conference was to bring together birth families,
foster and adoptive families, kinship families, and families new to the child
welfare system to share information and exchange ideas. There
was a wonderful turnout with approximately 130 attendees. A variety of
workshops were offered with topics ranging from SRS investigation to the
prevention of abduction and exploitation.
I think everyone will agree that a highlight of the conference were the Keynote Speakers, Judge Webb and Ward Foley. They both moved the audience and hopefully renewed tired souls. I will venture to guarantee that everyone in attendance walked out of the conference having learned something new. We have received very positive feedback. If you were in attendance and have any comments or feedback feel free to email us.
On July 11, 2009, KFAPA and Kansas Family Advisory Network (KFAN) partnered together
to bring you the first annual KFAPA conference at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in
Topeka. The theme for the conference was Connecting the Dots: Kansas Families
and Children. Participating in this year’s conference was a variety of
service agencies including SRS, KDHE, KFAN, OJA, KYAC, Keys for Networking and
Families Together.
